Beer, Wine & Beverages Putting Wisconsin on the Map

Fun little beverage season has arrived here in South Central Wisconsin! We’re celebrating with our friends and families by sitting on patios and porches with an icy cold drink, watching the fireflies and little brown bats fly through the wide open skies. Whether you’re new to the area or have yet to arrive to the joys of small batch, big hearted local wines and brews, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite Madison-area businesses that specialize in the art of passionately crafted sips.

Giant Jones Brewery  - This brewery located in the Williamson-Marquette neighborhood on Madison’s near eastside is glorious for those that enjoy beers that pack a punch. With offerings weighing in with an alcohol by volume (ABV) rating of 7% or higher, Giant Jones’ beers are also highly flavorful, not to be taken lightly (seriously!). This brewery focuses on the sustainable as well, boasting an organic accreditation since their opening in 2019 (Wisconsin’s only certified organic brewery by the way!) along with a focus on sourcing locally grown grains, spelt and barley. 

Herbiery - Cuteness abounds at this hop-free, community focused brewery in Madison’s Atwood neighborhood. Herbiery is all about uplifting those in the service industry, boasting a 50% discount to those working in the food or beverage service network every first Monday of the month. Their offerings include a Maypole Saison, Golden Coconut Milk Stout and Zingibeer Ginger Lager that come in the most adorable and well designed cans we’ve seen on this side of the isthmus. 

Delta Beer Lab - This is unironically one of the best breweries to go to with your co-workers! This southside Madison establishment boasts a laid back atmosphere, parking lot patio and a wide variety of flavors that makes for a super laid back and curiosity-forward experience. Founded with an emphasis in supporting local area non-profits, Delta is a change-focused brewery that keeps regulars coming back to enjoy the taproom with a hiking backpack hanging in the corner. The bar is welcoming and the pours range from sweet and sour to dark and smoky, definitely one to visit for rotating events, trivia and entertainment. 

American Wine Project - Located in Mineral Point, Wisconsin, this beloved winery is arguably some of the best wine that we’ve ever had the fortune to sip upon. With a slogan of “redefining American winemaking”, this biodiversity-focused maker is what we love to talk about with people that don’t believe in Wisconsin’s hype. Situated in a former high school technical education building, their no-nonsense attitude echoes from the walls into their Summer Land Briana, Social Creature Rosado and Sound of Memory, to name a few. Sourcing grapes grown throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota, this truly enchanting wine maker offers truly fabulous additions to your next summer soiree, gathering or party in the park.
